Day 8

Have you ever given away money? Have you ever given your time to Jesus? Have you given until it hurts? Mother Teresa says, "Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go." I have had the privilege of leaving the country on two missions trip. However, we don't have to leave the country in order to minister to others. God can use whatever we are willing to give, time or money. There is a ministry, Feed My Starving Children, located in Aurora, IL., about 10 minutes from my home whose primary purpose is to feed starving children. I have been several times and I am always amazed at what can be accomplished in a short period of time. FMSC (http://www.fmsc.org/) packs food for children in several different countries like Haiti, Zimbabwe, Uganda, the Philippines and more. Packing is done with up to 90 people for about an hour and a half. In that time frame enough meals are packed to allow up to 90 children, sometimes more, to eat one meal a day for the next year. Stories are shared that tug at heart strings, stories that you can't help but be touched by. Children's lives are being changed by God with future purposes in mind.

Day 8
The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer by Andrew Murray

What to Pray: For the Spirit on All Christian Workers

"On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many" (2 Corinthians 1:11). There are Christian workers in every walk of life; not only in our churches and missions but also in our schools, our hospitals, our government, our military, our highways, our farms, our markets, in business, and in leisure. God be praised for this! But think what more they could accomplish if each were living in the fullness of the Holy Spirit! Pray for them, it makes you a partner in their work, and you will have reason to praise God when you hear of blessing in their lives and in their work on every front.

How to Pray: With Specific Petitions

"What do you want me to do for you?" (Luke 18:4).
In the above reference, the Lord knew what the blind man wanted and yet He asked him. Verbalizing our desires gives credence to the transaction in which we are engaged with God and so awakens faith and expectation. Be specific in your petitions so as to know what answer you may look for. Think of the great number of Christians you know who are working for God in their various fields and endeavors, and ask and expect God to bless them and prosper them in answer to the prayers of the people. Ask even more specifically for those in your own family and place of work. Intercession is not the breathing out of pious wishes; it is believing, persevering prayer to receive specific answers to specific requests.

Your Own Prayer Requests:

~When interceding for others, ask them how you can pray specifically for them and then do it. Be sure to follow up with them at a later date to see how the prayer has been answered.
~When praying for your family pray specifically. Ask God to show evidence of your families spiritual growth and then watch for the answer.
~Pray for an opportunity to be used by God during the Christmas season. Be specific on where and then watch for the opportunity to present itself. He longs to bless you and me, may we look for His answer as we move about our day.

I love praying for specific things. When FMSC first moved to the area, they were in a temporary site awaiting a permanent location to open. There seemed to be obstacle after obstacle that came up and delay after delay. We asked them how we could pray specifically for them. They needed inspections to get done and be approved, they needed specific workers to show up and get specific tasks done in order to move forward. We had so much fun praying for them and then hearing how God answered those prayers. Did God need us to pray in order to accomplish those things? No, He doesn't need us to do anything before He acts, however, He gives us the opportunity to join Him in the work He is doing. If you haven't started yet to pray, just do it!! If your prayer life is feeling a little stale, tell Him you don't want a stale prayer life any longer and ask Him to help you. That is a prayer He will love answering.

Day 7

My husband and I are blessed to have two sons (ages 19 and 22 – hard to believe they’re/we’re that old already!). As a Mom I confess that I have worried over them from time to time. Coming from a long line of worriers in my family, it was kind of a badge of honor – good Moms worry – right? Having an ulcer meant that you were really good at it. However, there was a particular concern I had for one of them that I just couldn’t seem to ‘pray’ about enough. That concern sometimes woke me up at night, consumed my thoughts during the day and I poured it out to God day after day. Finally, I was too exhausted to pour out any more and so just stayed quiet before the Lord. That’s when HE finally had a chance through the still small voice of HIS Holy Spirit to ask me if I was truly praying TO HIM about my concerns or just worrying BEFORE HIM? Wow, that hit me right between the eyes. HE revealed to me that I hadn’t even really asked HIM for anything for my son, rather, I was stewing over how things could possibly work in the information/knowledge before us! Interestingly, the next morning, I read from Oswald Chambers book “My Utmost for His Highest” that worry was certainly NOT a badge of honor but rather the SIN of UNBELIEF – unbelief that God IS Sovereign, that He IS Good all the time and can bring good out of ANY circumstance IF we bring it to Him. Perhaps one of the things I love most about the Lord is that when He convicted me of this sin, I didn’t feel shame, guilt or defeat. He took my confession and invited me to see from HIS Perspective and Peace. That was over 4 years ago and God continues to affirm HE is truly enough for ALL that concerns my heart and has worked out that concern in beautiful ways I could have never imagined! Sin can be blatant, but it can also be very subtle….it’s just the change of one little letter of our focus: instead of focusing on the SON(the One who redeemed us, we were created through), we have changed our focus to SIN (I=Me, Myself, My world or even I=Idols – elevating someone or something to consume us other than God). I can’t say that I’m 100% cured of worrying, but I can sure recognize and confess it more quickly now and am learning to listen more and talk less in my prayer time!

What To Pray: For the Spirit of Fire

"Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem. The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; He will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire" (Isaiah 4:3-4) A washing by fire! A cleansing by judgment! He that has passed through this fire will be called holy. The blessing for the world, the power of the work of intercession that will avail, depends upon the spiritual state of the church. That state can only be elevated as sin is discovered and repented of. Judgment must begin at the house of God. There must be conviction of sin before there can be sanctification. Call upon God to pour out His Spirit as a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire-to reveal and consume sin in His people.

How To Pray: In the Name of Christ

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" (John 14:13-14). Ask what you will in the name of your Redeemer. He waits to grant your request. Ask what He has promised, what He died for, that sin may be put away from among His people. Ask for a spirit of conviction of sin, for a spirit of fire. We cannot go wrong when we pray the Scriptures. We know we pray according to His will. He would prepare His people to minister to the world, and this is impossible as long as sin is present. Ask in faith; ask in His name. Pray that the church may prepare itself to be effective in its ministry to the world.

Your Own Prayer Request:

-“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24) Come before God as David did in this Psalm and allow HIS Holy Spirit to search your heart for any areas in your life where you may have substituted the SON for SIN…

-Pray for the Body of Christ to have ears to hear and hearts to receive the Father’s conviction of sin through His Holy Spirit – humbling ourselves so that HE would not have to….

-Practice listening to and fixing your focus on the Lord by asking HIM and then being still and waiting for HIS Holy Spirit to speak into your heart:
• How can I love You today?
• What act of worship can I do?
• What words can I utter that will honor and bless you?
• What act of service can I do to represent Your love today?
• How would Your Spirit inspire me to pray today?
Just like David, when we come to the Father and allow the Light of HIS Truth and Love to flood and magnify, we can learn to see from HIS Perspective, love with HIS heart, watch for ways HE might be inviting us to join HIM throughout the day and allow HIM to grow our love relationship with HIM so that we too, like David, may be called “(women) after God’s own heart.”

Day 6

A few years ago I was in the office at church wrapping up some details from a busy morning of Bible study. The desk I used was behind the receptionist and the door to our office was almost always open so I got to see people coming and going and hear many interesting questions being asked and answered. On this particular day a couple passed by the front desk on their way out and thanked the receptionist for allowing them to come in and pray. I couldn't help but be intrigued. I made eye contact with the woman sharing and walked to the front counter to listen. She was eager to share that she and her husband had committed to the Lord for the 40 days prior to Easter that they would drive and allow God to direct them to the church He chose for them to spend time in to pray. They were from the south side of Chicago and told of some churches that when they asked if there was somewhere for them to pray the church representative would say yes or no. I chuckled and asked if a church really would tell them no? She said, "Oh yes, we have been told by several churches that we couldn't pray." I was shocked. This couple told us that they felt directed by God to come to First Baptist on this particular day to pray. They told us how they prayed for our church family, the church's leadership, the children of our church and that God would move mightily in the lives of His children at FBCG. They thanked us again for allowing them to come in and pray and then they left. About that same time a truck driver pulled in to our West Campus wanting to talk to a pastor. The young man was not yet 20 years of age but drove by our church and felt like he needed to stop. A pastor met with him and shared the gospel. That young man, because of the faith of his grandmother who had recently passed away, decided to pray and receive Christ. Amazing!!

Day 6
The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer by Andrew Murray

What to Pray: For the Spirit of Love in the Church

"I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. I have made you known to them and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them" (John 17:22-23, 26). "But the Fruit of the Spirit is love" (Galatians 5:22). Believers are one in Christ as He is one with the Father. The love of God rests on them and will dwell in them. Pray that the power of the Holy Spirit may so work this love in believers that the world may see it and know God's love for them. Let this be a continual subject of prayer.

How to Pray: As One of God's Reminders

"I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest" (Isaiah 62:6). Study these words until your soul is filled with the realization: I am appointed to be an intercessor. Enter God's presence in that conviction. Study the world's need with the thought: It is my work to intercede; the Holy Spirit will teach me what I am to pray for and how I am to pray. Let it be an abiding recognition: My great life work, like Christ's, is intercessory prayer-to pray for believers as well as for those who do not yet know God.

Your Own Prayer Requests:

~Pray for a boldness to follow after God, even if it takes you out of your comfort zone.
~Ask God to give you His heart for the lost
~Ask God to bring a new believer into your life. Then share your faith with her that she might know the love of Christ

That couple had been on the road for 31 of their 40 days of prayer. They came to intercede for our church family, and yet they didn't know anyone from our church. But, as a body of believers we are one in Christ. I believe a direct answer to their prayers was a new life in Christ that arrived in a truck to our parking lot at the West Campus. May I learn to be as obedient as they were and pray boldly for believers and the lost!! They asked me to pray that they will remain obedient to His call. I can't wait to see them again in heaven and share stories!

Day 5

Today is my birthday, my spiritual birthday that is. I hit double digits this year. For 10 years I have chased after God, seeking Him for direction, correction and opportunities to serve Him. I fell in love and haven't looked back. And I have never been the same since that Thursday evening, December 7, 2000. I have shared in the past that I spent nearly 2 years investigating this thing called faith and the One to whom my salvation rests; I wondered if Jesus was the real deal. I spent those many months questioning, doubting and asking a lot of questions. I sat with a pastor from our church in Ohio trying to wrestle through some spiritual issues. He asked me if I had ever prayed and asked Jesus to be my Savior. I said something like, I tried but it didn't work. I told the pastor that all my years growing up I would hear "religious people" say that when bad things happened they leaned on their faith. I determined in my head that since I didn't have faith that bad things would not happen, although several "bad things" had happened, I figured it would get worse. I also determined that maybe God wanted me to have faith because something bad was going to happen. I was afraid to have faith because God was going to drop the other proverbial shoe. Do you know that shoe? The pastor asked if I had ever told God that. "Told Him what?" I asked. The pastor encouraged me to tell God what I was afraid of. The light bulb flickered. I had never thought of communicating with God like that before. I had tested God in many things, like situations to show me He was really out there, but never had I thought of telling Him my fears. So, after nearly 2 years of seeking Him, I got on my knees on a cold December night and prayed a prayer. I confessed that I really didn't know all the right words to say but I did know that He was the real deal. I knew I needed a Savior and I knew that Savior was Jesus Christ. I knew that He was the One who died on the cross for my sins and on the third day He rose again and is seated at the right hand of the Father. I told Him what I was most afraid of, I confessed the sins of my past and begged that He make something beautiful of them. I asked that He find some way to use me for His kingdom. Not sure what else I said, I think it was a fairly short conversation. Once I said Amen, I wiped the tears from my face and went on about my business. It wasn't until the next day when my husband I rented an R rated movie that I realized I was changed. My friend told me my veil had been lifted.

Day 5
The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer by Andrew Murray

What to Pray: That God's People Might Be Kept From the World

"I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name-the name you gave me-so that they may be one as we are one. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it" (John 17:11, 15-16).
On His last night on earth, Christ asked three things for His disciples: that they might be kept as those who are not of the world; that they might be sanctified; that they might be one in love. You cannot do better than pray as Jesus prayed. Ask for God's people that they may be kept separate from the world and its spirit; that they, by the Holy Spirit, may live as one in love and as those who are not of the world.

How to Pray: Having Confidence Before God

"Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we obey His commnads and do what pleases Him" (1 John 3:21-22).

Memorize these words. Get them into your heart. Join the ranks of those who with John draw near to God with an assured heart that does not condemn, having confidence toward God. In this spirit pray for your brother who sins (1 John 5:16). In the quiet confidence of an obedient child, plead for those of your brethren who may be giving in to sin. Pray for all to be kept from evil. And say often, "What we ask, we receive, because we keep His commandments and do what is right in His sight."

Your Own Prayer Requests:

~I cannot say it better, pray the words of Jesus. Pray, Holy Father protect us from the evil one.
~Pray that we (you & I) can love one another. That we can love our enemies.
~Pray for your enemies that God will bless them and reveal Himself to them. That God will be your judge and vindicate you.
~Pray that we (you & I) will look different than those of the world. That we will learn and reflect the face of Christ with our words and deeds.

I had known Jesus for 1 day and already I had become disgusted with the language and behavior of an R rated movie. Other than Slumdog Millionaire, I don't remember the last time I watched an R rated movie. Now, I am NOT saying you cannot watch an R rated movie, I am saying that was an area where God was revealing to me the difference of the world and the plan He had for my life. He was protecting me and I never realized I needed protection prior to that day in December 2000.

May we never be the same because of Jesus living in us.

Day 4

I left for Las Vegas this past Thursday and returned Saturday night. It was a quick trip but it seemed like I was there for months, maybe longer. Las Vegas, also known as Sin City, is a world unto itself, or so I thought. While out shopping a conversation between two men got started. They were discussing the "entertainment" of a local club. I had no desire to hear their story so I got up to leave and said, "Only in Las Vegas." The one man said, "No, not really they do this in San Diego too." I guess the distaste of their entertainment conversation did not come out in my tone of voice because the way he responded to me was so friendly and matter-of-fact that if I missed out on the "fun" here in Vegas then I could find it in San Diego. I left heart-broken for the people who view the activity in LV as normal. I try very hard to spend time with people who do not know Jesus or do not go to church. I have to be very intentional about finding the time to do this because most of my time is spent working at church and attending weekly Bible studies. Then while in my home I am surrounded by Bibles, Scripture scribbled out on loose papers and Christian radio stations constantly playing. However, for more than 2 days I was without all of those things and I came home feeling empty. I lived most of my adult life without Jesus so to go 2 days and come home truly missing Him was incredible. A few weeks ago I finished previewing a study the intermediate level will begin in January, Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted. Jonah was asked to go to Ninevah to preach against the city because of their wickedness. I felt like I was in Ninevah while standing in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a wicked place with thousands of lost souls needing to grasp hold of Jesus. It seems overwhelming to me, there seems to be no hope for that city. I will pray for my family that is there and for those I met, but honestly, it is so overwhelming.

Day 4
The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer by Andrew Murray

What To Pray: For the Spirit of Holiness

God is the Holy One. His people are a holy people. He says, "I am holy: I am the Lord that makes you holy." Christ prayed, "Sanctify them. Make them holy through your truth." Paul prayed, "May God establish your hearts unblameable in holiness" and "God sanctify you wholly."

Pray for all saints-God's holy ones-throughout the church that the Spirit of holiness may guide and direct them. Especially pray for new converts. Pray for the Christians in your own neighborhood or in your congregation. Pray for any you are especially close to. Think of their special needs, weaknesses, or sins, and pray that God will make them holy.

How To Pray: Trusting in God's Omnipotence

Things that are impossible with men are possible with God. Think of the things we ask for, some of which we think have little likelihood of coming to pass or being granted us. We think of our own insignificance, our own unworthiness. Why would God answer our prayer? Prayer is not only wishing, or even asking, but believing and accepting. Be still before God and ask Him that you might know Him as the Almighty One. Leave your petitions with Him who does the impossible.

Your Own Prayer Requests:

~Do you wonder if Jesus is the real deal? Does He really care about you and your world? Do you wonder if Jesus knows your name? The answer to all 3 of those questions is yes. If you answered no to any of those questions, please pray that He would reveal to you the truth. Ask Him to help you in your unbelief.
~If you know Jesus are you praying for someone who doesn't know Him? If the people you know also know Jesus then please pray that God will bring an unbeliever into your life. It isn't biblical that we stay just with our Christian friends and neighbors.
~Pray for those who are lost. Walk (or since it is cold drive) through your neighborhood and pray for the people in the homes. Pray that God will begin to draw them to Himself and then ask Him for an opportunity to meet them and encourage them to join you at church or Bible study.

In our own strength and abilities we can do nothing to further the kingdom. However, Christ in us can impact us, we can impact the people around us and they can impact the people around them. Pretty soon hearts are being changed, families are being changed and neighborhoods are being changed. Yes, a great majority of people living in Las Vegas are lost, but no more so than any other town or city. Pray boldly before the throne of heaven for a fresh understanding of the love of Christ, first for yourself and then for others. May He have His way with us all the way from Las Vegas to Illinois and everywhere in between and beyond.

Day 3

Several years ago I served in ministry with a pastor who wanted to increase the diversity in our church. His idea was to host a pot-luck supper and begin at 4:17. People would ask, "why 4:17?" Years ago I could explain the verse to them but now I am embarrassed to say that I don't remember what book of the Bible that chapter and verse can be found but he suggested it so that every time we were asked about it or saw 4:17 we would remember to pray for our church and the people we might have the opportunity to minister to. It stuck with me. When I look at my clock and it says 3:23 I pray for our son Evan, March 23 (3:23) is his birthday. When I see 3:24 I pray for our son Adam, March 24 is his birthday. You get the idea. My mind operates in strange ways at times, I remember numbers. If I know the month and day of your birthday I will be praying for you each time my clock shows the month and day of your birthday. It happens with area codes, exits on the highway and more. I know, it is strange. If you want to leave me a comment with your first name and month and day of your birthday, I will gladly pray for you!!

Day 3
The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer by Andrew Murray

What To Pray:

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18). Every member of a body is interested in the welfare of the whole body and exists to help and complete the others. Believers are one body and ought to pray not so much for the welfare of their own church or group but for all the saints (believers). This large unselfish attitude is proof that Christ's Spirit is teaching them to pray. Pray first for all believers and then for all those around you.

How To Pray: In the Love of the Spirit

"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35).

"That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me" (John 17:21).

"I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me" (Romans 15:30).

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8).

If we are to pray, we must love those for whom we pray. Let us resolve to love all people, and especially every child of God. Let us pray in the fervency of this love of the Spirit.

Your Own Prayer Requests:

~Pray and ask God to help you be prayerful for others, first other believers and then for others.
~When their name comes to mind ask God how to pray for them. God may give you something specific to pray for, such as protection, understanding, boldness etc. If I do not sense a specific prayer need I ask God to bless my friend. I ask that He will love her in a way that she will recognize His handiwork in her life.
~Pray and ask God to encourage others to pray for you. Ask Him to bring your name to the mind of others who will pray for your needs, that the Spirit will intercede on your behalf.

As I made my way home from Las Vegas this weekend, I needed to stop for gas and noticed my clock showed 10:13. Immediately I remembered a friend from high school whose birthday is October 13. I haven't thought of her for years. I asked God how I should pray for her and what I sensed, not sure if it was my idea or His, but the first thing I thought of was truth. That isn't something I would normally come up with so I figured it was God's idea. I said a quick prayer for her and went on about the business of pumping gas. As my friend has continued to come to mind over the last 24 hours I have prayed that Truth would be revealed to her in a way that she will understand. I prayed that God will have His way with her wherever she is in her walk with Him. If she doesn't know Him, I prayed He would reveal Himself to her.

Thank you for your willingness to pray. If you don't feel like you are "very good" at praying, that is OK, you aren't being graded!! The best way to improve our prayer life is to just do it. If you think about how we make friends in our neighborhoods and with co-workers we start by having conversations. Begin to grow in your relationship with Christ by having a converstaion with Him, by praying. If you see 3:19 on your clock and I come to mind, please pray that God will give me wisdom and revelation so that I may know Him better (Ephesians 1:17).

Day 2

I am sorry for such a late post but I had a fantastic evening tonight celebrating with our Wednesday evening Bible study gals as we shared what God has done in us over the last 12 weeks. If you attended Tuesday or Wednesday's celebration, you got to hear about Ohn. Ohn was a Thai bar girl until The Well, a ministry in Thailand for bar girls to find safe refuge and a new hope, opened their doors to her to introduce her to the love of Christ and give her a place to seek healing from years of a difficult life. Ohn began to learn a new trade of jewelry making, she began to earn a wage where she didn't have to go out onto the streets. Over the last year Ohn was given a paint brush for the first time. She began to paint the dark areas of her past and as God healed those dark places Ohn's paintings became brighter in color and in dimension. Beautiful oil paintings have been put on paper and her story is being told. Ohn is healing. Tonight, one of our Bible study gals shared that when Narimon, the ministry we support by purchasing the products made by the girls at The Well, was here two years ago she bought a beaded bracelet. On the bracelet was the name of the artist and her age. Her name was Ohn. The idea behind the artist putting her name on the pieces she created is to encourage those of us who purchase the item to pray for the artist. Our Bible study gal shared that she purchased the item to be given as a gift but in the meantime she prayed daily for the artist, Ohn. Once the gift was opened on Christmas morning, she passed the prayer-baton to the new owner of the bracelet. She shared the story behind the ministry and asked that she continue to pray for her. Not often do we get to truly see the power of prayer but in this case we did get to see how God has answered the prayers of His daughters in Illinois, half a world away from Thailand. Ohn is finding healing and has set her mind to help other girls heal from a life of abuse. The power of prayer is amazing. Actually, I can't think of an English word that can truly grasp what prayer does. The power isn't in the one who says the prayer, the power is in the One who hears the prayer. May we be bold in our prayer life and seek Him for His desires and may our lives be changed because of Him.

Day 2
What to Pray: For the Spirit of Supplication
The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer by Andrew Murray

What to Pray: For the Spirit of Supplication

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express" (Romans 8:26).

"And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication" (Zechariah 12:10).

The evangelization of the world depends first of all upon a revival of prayer. Our greatest need-in spite of what we may imagine-is the need for the forgotten secret of prevailing, all-encompassing prayer. Every child of God has the Holy Spirit within him to enable him to pray effectively. God waits to give a full measure of the Spirit, an added boost to our private and corporate prayer life. Ask for yourself and for all who would join you for the outpouring of the Spirit of supplication.

How To Pray: In the Spirit

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18).

"But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit" (Jude 20)

On the day of His resurrection, our Lord gave His disciples the Holy Spirit to enable them to wait for the full outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost. It is only in the power of the Spirit already in us, acknowledged and yielded to, that we can pray for His fuller manifestation. Tell the Father that it is the Spirit of His Son in you who is urging you to plead the promises.

Your Own Prayer Requests:

Choose one to start with:
~As you quiet yourself, sit comfortably and quietly and acknowledge God's presence. Ask that His Spirit will direct your thoughts as you press on to pray in the power of His Spirit.
~Ask Him who to pray for and then wait. As a name enters your mind, pray on that persons behalf for any need that you know about. Pray for strength, pray for healing and pray for a fresh revelation of His love for her.
~Thank God for the opportunity to pray for her. Continue to ask Him who you can pray for and respond as the names come to you. Ask Him to show you His answers and give you a peace until you can see His answer to the prayer. And as you wait, trust that even when you do not see the answer, you know God is at work in the situation.

I leave for Las Vegas tomorrow (12/2/10) to visit family for a few days. Please pray on my behalf for safe travels and an opportunity to share the love of Christ in a way that draws them closer to Him. I will have computer access so come back for
Day 3!!

May God bless you with a greater knowledge and understanding of His great love for you.
